LONDON: 15 January, 2013 MTV UK – a division of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) UK and Ireland - announced strong ratings across the Christmas period.


Over the Christmas season the MTV Networks 11 pack recorded an average 16-34 audience of 37.7k, the highest December since 2005. This, in turn drove huge reach for the network – with 22.4 million individuals & 7.4 million 16-34’s tuning into an MTV channel during December.

The MTV Music Pack really stood out as the network’s key achiever across December – delivering really strong ratings with an average 16-34 audience of 17.4k both its highest December and highest month since 2006.

Throughout 2012, the Music Pack (Excl. Viva/4Music) proved to be the highest performing Music Network for every month of the year for 16-34’s (and by over 50% in December).

Three quarters of MTV music channels recorded YoY gains in December – over 100% for MTV Music and a whopping 200% for MTV Live. And for MTV Music, December proved to be its highest monthly average ratings ever.

But success was not limited to MTV’s music channels. Some of MTV’s popular entertainment shows also delivered some really strong ratings on MTV. The main channel saw an average 16-34 audience of 8.2k in December – the highest December audience since 2005. This success was driven by the phenomenal success of Geordie Shore series 4 with the programme averaging just shy of a million viewers. In fact, series 4 was the highest rating yet for Geordie Shore which has grown its 16-34 audience by an amazing 77% since series 1 first aired.
