London, Thursday 9th May 2013 – MTV UK today announces the renewal of its agreement with the Official Charts Company.   MTV will continue to be the exclusive Music TV home of the weekly Official Charts, with its series of countdown shows including The Official UK Top 40, The Official Chart Update, The Official Download Singles Chart, The Official Urban Chart and The Official Dance Chart, continuing to be broadcast across its network of music channels and Freeview channel, VIVA.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot says, “MTV has been an important partner of the Official Charts since 2008 and we are delighted to extend this relationship.”

Additionally, MTV is pleased to announce it has re-commissioned Remedy Productions to produce the music programming across its network of channels for a fifth consecutive year. The slate will cover a range of formats including The Official UK Top 40, celeb hosted music countdowns and dedicated artist programming, producing 1000 slot hours to be broadcast across MTV UK’s portfolio of channels.

Elsewhere, after an incredible 2012 which saw MTV UK, with its portfolio of 8 Music Channels (MTV MUSIC, MTV HITS, MTV BASE, MTV LIVE, MTV ROCKS, MTV DANCE, MTV CLASSIC, VH1), crowned the number one music network for the fifth consecutive year and MTV Live HD named as the fastest growing music channel, MTV continues its commitment to delivering exactly what its audience wants with an unmissable line up of programming this summer.

First up is Snowbombing which premieres 11th May on MTV MUSIC and MTV LIVE HD, showcasing all the music highlights from the Austrian alpine event. MTV UK brings you live performance specials from artists including Kasabian, Example, Disclosure and Rudimental, plus a compilation show jam-packed with interviews, tracks, and additional festival footage, hosted by MTV’s Lilah Parsons.

MTV UK will also be giving viewers access to all the action from Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks throughout the summer. From the biggest live performances and exclusive artist interviews to highlights from the 16 week long series of outdoor gigs featuring the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Tinie Tempah, Biffy Clyro, Ellie Goulding and Chase & Status. Ten shows will be aired in total on MTV MUSIC and MTV LIVE HD, with 6 x 30 min artist specials from Ibiza Rocks, 2 x 30 min artist specials from Mallorca Rocks and 2 x 60 min (multi-artist) compilation shows hosted by MTV’s Laura Whitmore. Coverage will be broadcast on the MTV Music Channels from August 18th, culminating in an Ibiza & Mallorca Rocks closing party weekend on September 15th and 16th.

MTV will be reporting live on site from this year’s Yahoo! Wireless Festival as part of their previously announced official broadcast partnership. Coverage on MTV MUSIC and MTV LIVE HD will include highlights, performances and exclusive artist interviews. Additional artist specials and compilation shows, hosted by Laura Whitmore and Lilah Parsons, highlighting the best bits of the weekend’s music, will premiere in August as part of MTV’s Best of Yahoo! Wireless Weekend.
