Comedy Central is a leading Pay TV General Entertainment channel and is part of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). A joint venture between VIMN (75%) and BSkyB (25%), Comedy Central airs on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms. Comedy Central launched in the UK in April 2009 and has since grown by a phenomenal 82%.

The channel broadcasts a mix of hit US acquisitions and original UK productions targeting a 16-34 year-old audience. Popular shows include Two And A Half Men, Anger Management, Friends, The Daily Show, South Park, Mike & Molly, Tosh.0 and Whitney. In 2012 Comedy Central aired its first local commission Threesome which received both critical acclaim and high ratings. A subsequent series followed as well as the channel’s second commission Alternative Comedy Experience. Other commissions set to debut in 2013 include Seann Walsh World and Big Bad World.

Jill leads the Comedy Central’s commissioning team which is currently developing a number of narrative comedy scripts following the 2011 success of Threesome (Big Talk Productions) Comedy Central’s first original narrative comedy which The Times described as ‘Best New Sitcom’. Jill joined Paramount Comedy in 2008 and Jill spearheaded the successful re-launch of Paramount Comedy to Comedy Central in April 2009. The re-brand saw channel ratings rise +59% in the first two weeks and +15% Year on year. Since 2009 Jill has added big name titles to the Comedy Central line-up including the critically acclaimed Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock and wrestled ratings giant Friends away from E4. In March 2012 it was announced that in addition to her UK managing Director role Jill would become SVP International Content; responsible for commissioning content for all of the global Comedy Central brands

David Lynn

Managing Director & Executive Vice President, UK, Australia & Eastern Europe and International Content Distribution, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN).

David Lynn is Managing Director & Executive Vice President, UK, Australia & Eastern Europe and International Content Distribution, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). Under his remit, Lynn is responsible for VIMN operations in the following markets: UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Israel, Hungary and Central & Eastern Europe. Appointed in March 2007, Lynn reports into VIMN President Bob Bakish. Lynn is also responsible for the strategic direction of VIMN’s international content distribution, creating and overseeing new affiliate partnerships and developing new distribution strategies to deliver VIMN branded content across the world. Lynn oversees VIMN’s Pro Social Team, which offers international initiatives including MTV Voices and MTV Staying Alive. He is also a member of Viacom’s Global Inclusion Advisory Committee, which is a cross-functional think-tank, focused on advancing diversity and inclusion throughout the company. Born in Dublin, Lynn studied Engineering at University College Dublin and became a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Philip O’Ferrall

SVP, Digital, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN)

Philip O’Ferrall is the SVP of Digital for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). In this role, O’Ferrall is responsible for VIMN’s Digital media business for all multi-platform properties outside of the USA, reporting to Robert Bakish, President of Viacom Media Networks International (VIMN) and David Lynn, EVP, MTV Networks UK & Ireland and Australia and New Zealand. In this role, O’Ferrall is responsible for managing the creation of world class content based on VIMN’s portfolio of global hit franchises – including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and South Park - building technology platforms and forming strategic partnerships with major industry players in the digital arena, including new ventures, affiliate relationships and mobile. Additionally O’Ferrall is also responsible for creating and implementing all of MTV, Nickelodeon & Comedy Central’s digital media strategy - for online, interactive TV and mobile - across the company’s 20 channel portfolio in the UK & Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as creating 360-degree TV commissioning strategy for new programming.
