London, 3 December 2014: Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), today announced that UK series production of hit Comedy Central US show Drunk History has commenced. Following an original commission of a pilot, the channel has ordered an initial series comprising eight episodes.

Each episode of Drunk History features comedians getting very drunk in order to tell a true historical story they are passionate about. As they narrate these stories, slurred word for slurred word, a host of well-known actors, celebrities and other comedians act out these new, rather blurry versions of history. Johnny Vegas, Ralf Little, Russell Kane, Joe Lycett, Russell Tovey,  Rob Beckett, Alex Horne and James Acaster have all signed to appear in the series, with Jimmy Carr providing the voice over.

Lourdes Diaz, Vice President, Head of Global Production & Development, Comedy Central International said, “I’m excited that we have green lit series production for Drunk History. I know our UK audience is going love it, after all, it combines two things the nation holds dear to its heart…drinking and history!”

Andy Brereton, Head of Comedy and Entertainment Tiger Aspect added, “The Drunk History team is really looking forward to creating some great historical moments with a who’s who of British comedy talent. Hopefully everyone’s careers will recover, even if their livers don’t.”

The executive producers for Drunk History are Jill Offman, Lourdes Diaz and Joe McVey for Comedy Central and Andy Brereton for Tiger Aspect.

Comedy Central has also recently announced that series production has commenced for multi-camera sitcoms Brotherhood and I Live With Models.
