Blake Harrison, Caroline Quentin and James Fleet confirmed for series
London, Tuesday 28th August, Comedy Central has ordered a brand new comedy from Objective Productions; Big Bad World (WT). Following an original commission of a pilot and 5 scripts from the indie, the channel has ordered a series of 8 episodes.
Blake Harrison, star of the BAFTA-winning film and TV show The Inbetweeners, heads up a cast of established names and some of the fastest rising talent in comedy. David Fynn (Game of Thrones, Black Mirror), Rebecca Humphries(Come Fly With Me) and Seann Walsh (Argumental, Stand up for the Week) are confirmed for the show and will appear alongside screen legends Caroline Quentin (Men Behaving Badly, Jonathan Creek) and James Fleet (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Vicar Of Dibley).
Big Bad World (W/T) is a comedy about what happens when you wait for life to begin. Ben (Harrison) has just graduated and the world should be his oyster, but he quickly finds himself back in his hometown and nursing his as yet unformulated dreams.
He's also back to hanging out with the same old gang; too-smart-for-her-own-good, charity mugger Meg, guitar-obsessive bedsit-philosopher Eggman and University-refuser and unashamed year-round-wearer-of-shorts-and-flip-flops Oakley. If it weren't for the frequent overdraft charges, Ben might almost believe the last three years of his life never happened.
Big Bad World is the latest title in Comedy Central's slate of original commissions. A second series of Threesome (Big Talk Productions) airs in the autumn and The Alternative Comedy Experience (exec produced by Stewart Lee) recently filmed at Edinburgh Festival’s legendary venue The Stand.
The strength of these local commissions in addition to the stellar performance of established hits such as Friends and Two and a Half Men, have fuelled the channel's growth of 82% since launch in 2009.
Ben Farrell, Executive Producer, Objective Productions commented, “Objective are hugely excited to be bringing such a talented writing team to Comedy Central, as well as such a stellar cast”.
Jill Offman, MD Comedy Central said, “Big Bad World’s exceptional scripts have attracted a fantastic cast who have become a group of funny and real characters that I know our growing audience will love”.
Big Bad World (W/T) is written by Joe Tucker, Lloyd Woolf, Rose Heiney, Kevin Cecil, Andy Riley and Jon Purkis. Executive Producers are Andrew Newman and Ben Farrell and Producer is Kate Daughton. Simon Lupton is Executive Producer for Comedy Central.
